English practice #2-3

yesterday I really forgot to write post.

so, I met Mars and Lera and we went to Lera's apartment. we really had fun trying to talk with foreigners in special app. unfortunately, foreigners were unfriendly and we refuse of this idea.

after that we are really delicious cake and played alias. it when you should to explain word and other players should guess it.

who are we? we are linguists. we play English alias, so we guessed English words. it was cool practice. we played for two hours and shared interesting words with each other. we could played during several hours but to my dismay we had to go to home.

today I watched two episodes of the series called "Hannibal". I tried to understand all words, but vocabulary was difficult for me. it was similar to "ABC murders" by Agatha Christie what I read to pleasure reading last semester.

tomorrow I think that I will watch something else, not this series and I definitely will write about it.

Practicing English and the first day of my holidays

Holidays have come, and I must say that it's so boring. Today was just the first day, but I already want to go back to university. I saw assignment for English and was glad to practice. I decided to download an app called "HelloTalk" to practice English with native speakers. I wrote to three people on this app, and they were all pretty, kind, and smart. The most interesting dialogue was with a boy named Lucas. He told me about his country. he was born in the USA but now he is studying in Latvia. Besides, he wants to learn Russian, and we swapped some facts about our languages. He told me about useful abbreviations. For example: ASAP — as soon as possible, W8 — wait, and my favorite abbreviation is TGIF — thank God it's Friday.

We talked with each other for two hours, I think, while I watched a movie.

So, I believe this app is my salvation. I think I will continue to use it to talk with interesting people, besides, I need to talk to someone during these days.

Winter holidays

Um, it’s 2026. Last year was uneasy. Can you imagine that just one year ago I was preparing for my exams, going to school every day, and hoping to study at a cool university? I can’t, really. I feel like it was yesterday.

I’m still in a New Year’s mood. These holidays were too short. I want more holidays, but to my dismay, I have to leave my hometown and go back to studying.

At the end of December, I was afraid that I wouldn’t be in my hometown for New Year’s because I had some troubles, but fortunately, I’m now writing this post in my warm bed and my younger brother is watching as I write it. Sometimes he asks me to translate what I write.

On New Year’s Eve I was with my family. We watched Harry Potter, cooked delicious food and then we realized that we’d forgotten buy sparklers. My dad went to the shop extremely fast and of course, he bought it. On that New Year I was like Santa Claus putting presents for the whole family under the Christmas tree while they watched fireworks outside.

After midnight, I went to my friends, and we had fun together, sharing presents and singing Christmas songs. It was marvelous to see my friends again. We told each other stories about our student life and showed interesting pictures. By the way, I showed them my blog, and they were really impressed.

During the other days, I spent a lot of time with my family and friends. But of course, I didn’t forget about studying and did some homework assignments to be free on the last days of the holidays. It didn`t help me... I still have to do a lot of assignments.

I have so many emotions and memories about the holidays. It seems like it all happened in one day because time passes so fast. I already miss this place, despite the fact that I’m still here.

I send greetings from Soligalich to everyone and wish you all a happy 2026.
